Đang xem: Will amd ram work with intel

So basically I bought some AMD ram off ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/152350292034 and I”m wondering would it work on intel?, I”ve seen a lot of mixed answers with this topic also it said COMPATIBLE with AMD does that mean they”ve only tested it on there or is it only compatible on there?

Those older boards had ram issues between brands. Intel preferred low density single sided ics, amd was comfortable with the high density, double sided. Looks like you got the low density, single sided version, mostly you”d find the HD kind that had 4 ics on each side, which gave Intel fits. The other big issue was back then windows was just x86 (32bit) so only accepted upto 4Gb of ram (3.5Gb usable) so 8Gb was useless. Then there”s the mobo, many mobo”s for Intel would only accept a 4Gb single dimm or 2x2Gb dimms. So, you may or may not be able to get the full 8Gb to work on Intel mobo”s, but at least 4Gb should. There”s no real guarantee, which is why you get conflicting answers.

This specific memory uses memory chip architecture which is not recognized by most Intel memory controllers. This memory should be OK on AMD based systems as their memory controllers recognize this particular memory chip architecture. So this memory is unlikely to work in an Intel based system. However, this is dependent on the specific memory controller used. Is there a particular motherboard and CPU combination that is planned for this memory? If so, what are the details of the proposed motherboard and CPU?PS: The memory label shows 800 MHz, but the memory chips actually used are rated for 667 MHz! So the label details does not match the memory chip specs!!
Unbranded DDR2 like that probably lacks Intel”s XMP profiles. The fact that it”s 1.8v is promising since that means it”s native DDR2 800 and not a factory overclocked module. Usually Intel is more forgiving with RAM than AMD and Gigabyte boards are the best with mixing and off brand use.I”m assuming you have an LGA 775 Core2 system? That was the last generation of Intel chips with the memory controller on the motherboard so it”s really going to be up to your board.
Many of these old ddr2 modules are seeing a resurgence of use, not for older windows usage, but in Hackintosh use, Apple OS on a Windows based platform, because the windows platforms had superior ability but stricter limits. The older Apple boards basically sucked, were harder to fix and update but windows based are cheap and easy and have better access to more modern gpus etc. Many are using AMD boards for this.

The RAM would work no problem, but only at JEDEC settings. Overclocking will be more difficult.JEDEC DDR2 JESD21-CPC2-3200 (800 MHz) 3-3-3-9 2TWhat are you doing with DDR2 in 2017? DDR3 is far cheaper per GB! But if you want to stick with DDR2, the best CPUs are AM2+ AMD FX-60 or LGA775 Intel QX9650.

PC2 3200 is DDR2 400. The poster was asking about PC2 6400 or DDR2 800. There were AM3 DDR2 motherboards that supported the Phenom II. There were also AM2 boards that supported the first Phenoms. The FX-60 is ancient and not even close to the fastest AMD chip that used DDr2. He obviously has an older system he”s trying to update. Probably Core2. But saying the RAM he linked will work no problem with any of the systems you listed in plain wrong. Please don”t use guesswork to “help” people.
You can build a HTPC for cheap from ebay using nothing more than ddr2 era parts that”ll run just fine using a low power gpu capable of 1080p playback. And grandma”s solitaire/YouTube machine doesn”t need much either. So “rock on!” op, hope you get that thing running.

I have a backup laptop with a Core2 P8400, 4GB of DDR2 and an old first gen Samsung SSD that”s so old it doesn”t even support TRIM. I use it as a test machine for Windows 10 preview builds. Runs fine.
